ughout June, the Military Pathways blog will focus on anxiety disorders, specifically PTSD and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Check back often to learn about current issues, diagnosis and treatment of GAD and PTSD. We’ll look at things such as:
• When is worry anxiety?
• The PTSD vs PTSI debate
• PTSD education in Second Life
• Women and PTSD
• Much, much more!
Anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric illnesses in the United States among adults and children. Experts estimate that approximately 40 million Americans have some form of an anxiety disorder, and only about one third get treatment, even though anxiety disorders are highly treatable. It’s important to understand that worry is normal, but it can get out of control.
Please check the blog often to get a well-rounded understanding of some common anxiety disorders. Share them with family and friends. You may be the difference between someone getting treatment or not.
